Karolien De Hertogh
United Airlines has appointed Karolien De Hertogh as its new sales director for the UK and Ireland, taking over from Bob Schumacher, who has been with the carrier for nearly 30 years.
De Hertogh, who has 15 years’ experience in the aviation industry, takes up her new role on 15 February when she will be responsible for “spearheading” United’s sales strategy in the UK and Ireland.
She has been at United since 2007, first as regional sales manager for the UK, Ireland and Belgium, and then as head of corporate sales in the UK. Before joining United, De Hertogh worked for the former UK carrier British Midland International (BMI).
In her new role, De Hertogh, will report to Marcel Fuchs, United’s managing director of international sales.
“Karolien has an impressive track record and a sharp focus on driving the business forward,” said Fuchs. “I know she will continue to work closely with the travel community as we enhance the United travel experience for all our customers.
“The whole United family wishes Bob Schumacher the very best after a highly successful career at United spanning almost 30 years.”
