Travel technology firm Travelport has announced the name of its new CEO as Gordon Wilson prepares to step down.
Greg Webb will take up the position on 1 August and brings more than 20 years’ experience in the travel technology industry. He will also join the company’s board of directors.
Webb was most recently SVP and general manager of Oracle Hospitality, a travel technology solutions provider, where he was responsible for strategy, enablement, development, sales, service and support. Prior to this, he was vice chairman of Sabre.
During his tenure with Sabre, Webb served in various executive positions across product development and marketing and ultimately led the company’s largest business unit, Sabre Travel Network. He has also served as chief information officer of BellSouth and is a member of the board of directors of security advisory firm Zyston.
Webb earned an MBA with an emphasis in marketing from Louisiana Tech University in the US and also holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Webb’s appointment comes after Travelport was acquired by Siris Capital and Evergreen Coast Capital for US$4.4 billion in December 2018.
Commenting on his decision to step down, current president and CEO Gordon Wilson said: “I celebrated 28 years with the company in May and have been president and CEO since 2011.
