New Travelodge chairman Martin Robinson
Budget hotel chain Travelodge has announced
the appointment of Martin Robinson as its new chairman.
Robinson is currently chair of the UK
business for fast food chain Burger King as well as holiday park operator Parkdean
Resorts. Prior to this, Robinson was CEO of Center
Parcs’ European business and chairman for the holiday park company in the UK.
He also spent ten years on the boards
of Disneyland Paris and Regus Plc and has also chaired Holmes Place Health
Clubs and wagamama.
Robinson said: “It is a great honour to join Travelodge, which is not just a British
hotel icon but also a model of a great value brand. Its resilience has helped
it to navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, is an exciting time to be
joining the company, as it embarks on the next exciting phase in its
development.”
During the pandemic Travelodge has
operated a smaller network of hotels to provide accommodation for NHS staff and
other key workers, employees allowed to travel and also supported local
authorities across the UK. The group filed for insolvency in 2020 and entered a company voluntary arrangement to continue operating.
