Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has appointed Ted Jacobs as vice president for brand design.
Mr Jacobs and his design team will direct "interior creative concepts" and dictate style guidelines for Starwood brands including W Hotels, Le Méridien, St. Regis and The Luxury Collection.
He will bring with him more than 20 years of design, brand-building and business expertise, Starwood said.
Most recently Mr Jacobs was principal and design director at global architecture and planning firm Gensler.
Starwood said the appointment of Mr Jacobs illustrated its commitment to "design, innovation and brand building".
Mr Jacobs will report directly to Mike Tiedy, Starwood's senior vp for brand design and innovation.
