Niklas Andréen
Travel technology giant Sabre has appointed industry veteran Niklas Andréen as chief commercial officer of its airline tech division.
In a statement, the Texas-based company said that Andréen would work with airlines to “scale adoption, deepen strategic relationships and drive more agile, customer centric retailing”.
Swedish native Andréen has held leadership positions at travel management company CWT (now part of American Express Global Business Travel), where he was president and chief operating officer until 2022, as well as previously working at travel tech firm Travelport for 12 years. He was most recently chief commercial officer at France-based B&B Hotels Group.
Shawn Williams, Sabre’s chief operating officer, said: “Niklas brings an exceptional blend of deep industry expertise, digital leadership and forward-looking commercial vision.
“As airlines move from experimentation to execution in our AI native environment, his experience scaling platform adoption and driving commercial performance will be instrumental in helping our customers realise optimal value from Sabre’s rebuilt foundation.”
In his new role, Andréen will have responsibility for global airline sales, account management, commercial strategy, business development and customer support.
Andréen added: “With Sabre Mosaic, Sabre now has a single, unified platform that’s open, modular and designed to scale, giving airlines the flexibility to modernise at their own pace. I’m looking forward to working closely with our customers as a true partner, helping them navigate change and execute what matters most for their business.”
In a separate move, Sabre has promoted Darren Rickey to the role of senior vice president, strategic commercial partnerships. Rickey, who has worked for Sabre for more than 25 years, will oversee the company’s growth initiatives and strategic partnerships.
