Grube appointed new Deutsche Bahn chief
Germany's Transport Ministry has said it will nominate Rüdiger Grube as chief executive of state-owned Deutsche Bahn AG.
The train company's previous ceo, Hartmut Mehdorn, resigned last week following an alleged spying scandal.
Mr Grube, a member of Daimler AG's management board, will also be nominated as ceo of Deutsche Bahn's unit DB Mobility Logistics.
Both German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Vice-Chancellor Frank-Walter Steinmeier support the nomination, reports said.
The nomination is pending approved by Deutsche Bahn's supervisory board, which includes labour representatives.
Railway unions GDBA and Transnet have acknowledged the nomination of Mr. Grube but would not discuss matters further, reports said.
Mr Grube is also on the board of Airbus' parent company European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co.
