von Randow joins Air Berlin
Matthias von Randow, a former minister in the German federal government, is to join Air Berlin as its new director global traffic rights and political affairs.
Mr von Randow, 49, is a former secretary of state for transport, construction and urban development.
In this post, he was responsible for all aspects of transport policy as well as being on the boards of Deutsche Bahn, the German rail network, and Fraport, the company which owns Frankfurt Airport.
Mr von Randow began his career as a trades unionist with DGB-Bildungswerk before moving on to be a member of DGB's national executive committee.
As a member of the SPD political party, he became head of managerial staff at the ministry for transport, construction and housing in 1999 and took over as secretary of state in 2008.
He takes up his new role on January 1, 2009.
