United names Schwab as senior vp alliances
United Airlines has named Mark Schwab as senior vice president-Alliances, International and Regulatory Affairs.
Mr Schwab brings with him more than 30 years' of aviation experience. Most recently, he was appointed United's vp-Pacific in 2003, responsible for leading the airline's Asia team and strengthening its relationships with Star Alliance partners ANA, Air China, Shanghai and Asiana Airlines.
Mr Schwab has in the past held the position of country manager for Mexico and the UK with United.
Reporting directly to John Tague, United's executive vp and coo, Mr Schwab will assume his new role with immediate effect.
Mr Schwab will be succeeded by James Mueller as vp-Pacific, also effective immediately.
Mr Mueller joined United earlier this year leading the customer solutions team. Prior to United, he spent 15 years with Northwest Airlines, with responsibility in revenue management, pricing, alliances, sales and cargo.
Mr Mueller will report to Jeff Foland, senior vp-sales.
