Travelport boosts MEA airline team
Travelport GDS has strengthened its Middle East and Africa airline team with five new appointments.
The new head of the team as airline business development director MEA is Khalid Alkhalidi who will be responsible for managing airline relationships and forming new commercial partnerships in the region.
He succeeds Fazal Muhammed who has re-located to Saudi Arabia to head up the company's new direct operation for travel agents in that country.
Mr Alkhalidi joined Travelport GDS in 2004 and was most recently in charge of sales of Travelport's IT services to airlines in MEA.
Also joining the team as business development managers are Amanda Finch, Sadullah Dawray and Martin Herbert.
Ms Finch has previously worked for Worldspan, Amadeus and Northwest Airlines while Mr Dawray has worked for several travel organisations.
Mr Herbert joins Travelport from Expedia and has previously worked for Travelport on its European airline team.
The fifth new member is Chaminda Kumara who joins as operations account manager having previously worked for Travelport's commercial operations in MEA.
