Michelle Degenhardt
Flight Centre Travel Group (FLT) has appointed Michelle Degenhardt to the newly created role of global sustainability officer.
Degenhardt is working across all levels within the FCM and Corporate Traveller-parent company, as well as with external stakeholders, to ensure FLT’s business practices are “economically, environmentally and socially sustainable.”
Graham Turner, managing director, FLT, said: “Sustainability is an area that is extremely important to our company, our people and our leisure and corporate customers.
“While we have always had a strong commitment to operating sustainably, as evidenced by the vast array of programmes and initiatives that are deeply embedded within our organisational culture, we are committed to enhancing our record in the future.
“Michelle’s appointment to this newly created role underlines this commitment and follows the release of our first sustainability report earlier this year.”
Degenhardt has worked for FLT for 17 years and was formerly the company’s culture and employee engagement leader. She has also been involved with various sustainability-related initiatives, including the development of the company’s Responsible Travel charter and the creation of a head-office recycling and waste reduction programme.
FLT also says that alongside the group’s sustainability efforts, products and services from the corporate travel division and brands have been developed to help customers make informed decisions around environmental options.
