The Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has appointed Aileen Crawford to head up its convention bureau.
She replaces Molly Deheny, who took an early retirement package from Glasgow City Council.
Deputy head at Glasgow Convention Bureau since 2009, in her new role as head of conventions Crawford aims to build up Glasgow’s association business.
Crawford said she would promote Glasgow as “a world-class conference destination” and “work to maximise the city’s share of UK and inernational association business, which is so vital to Glasgow’s continued economic growth”.
“We will remain receptive to the needs of our conference clients, provide first-class service and deliver on our promises to reinforce that meeting in Glasgow equates with success,” she added.
Crawford has been with the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Valley Tourist Board’s Convention Bureau since 1999.
She joined as international associations sales executive and was promoted to senior manager – international associations in 2001, continuing the same role after the dissolution of Scotland’s area tourist boards in 2004 with the newly formed Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
