South Wales venue the Vale Resort has unveiled a £50,000 refurbishment to one of its conference suites, which overlooks a 17th-century castle.
The Castle Suite is the venue’s largest function room, accommodating up to 700 delegates theatre-style, or 420 for a banquet or dinner. The space takes its name from its views over Hensol Castle and the Welsh countryside from floor-to-ceiling windows at either end of the room.
The Vale Resort said the investment follows a £500,000 upgrade covering each of the property’s 143 bedrooms, which was completed in 2018.
The resort also features a further 14 function rooms, which can accommodate between 10 and 700 delegates. In addition, Hensol Castle can host up to 320 people in its Courtyard Hall.
Paul Beddoe, sales and marketing director at the Vale Resort, commented: “The conference and event market is an important revenue stream for the Vale Resort, currently representing 35 per cent of our business, so it’s important to not only meet the expectations of our delegates, but exceed them. The first guest to enjoy the newly refurbished suite was Warren Gatland, the Wales national rugby team coach, for his farewell dinner, and we’ve got a host of other corporate events already booked in for the upcoming conference season.”
The resort said there are also plans to convert the basement of Hensol Castle into a craft spirit distillery due to open this winter, with an 80-cover restaurant set to follow.
