SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT continues with its highly successful twice-yearly luncheon for the media ”Scoops” with Chris Butler replacing David Cumming as managing director and host. The affable ex-Gatwick man is going off into well-earned retirement. Butler comes as a long term BAA employee, having served his apprenticeship mainly at Heathrow where he was T4 manager. Southampton moved at 1.85m passengers last year, a 20% increase and a doubling of traffic in just three years. The same growth is not expected short term with 2m passengers unlikely to be exceeded in 2006. The airport is expected to open a common user business class lounge airside during late spring of this year.
