HRG strengthens MICE team
HRG has strengthened its MICE team with two new appointments.
David Battley joins as director in the interenational UK evetns ands meetings management team and Robert Bailey fills the post of international evetns and meetings sales manager.
Mr Battley joins from Events by Appointment where he was managing director. He was also a main board member of The Appointment Group where he worked for 11 years.
Mr Bailey was recruited from Talking Point where he worked for six years.
Bridgestreet promotes Layton
Bridgestreet Worldwide, the UK's biggest provider of serviced apartments, has promoted Jo Layton to vp sales and marketing for EMEA.
Ms Layton joined Bridgestreet in 2005 having previously worked for Marriott, Renaissance and InterContinental Hotels.
She is also on the executive committee of the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers and has helped design the first grading sysyem for serviced apartments.
Lufthansa appoints new UK sales manager
Alex Tolweth has been appointed as Lufthansa's new business sales manager for the UK and Ireland.
He replaces Robert Stevens who has left the airline to pursue other interests.
Mr Tolweth, 33, joined the carrier in 2000 and has worked in its sales and marketing team in the UK, Fracne and Belgium.
Most recently he was a global corporate key account manager.
Travelport launches new GDS team
Travelport has appointed executives from both Galileo and Worldspan to its new integrated GDS team.
The team will be headed by Gordon Wilson, as president and ceo. .
Philip Emery is the chief financial officer, a post he formerly held with Galileo while Kevin Mooney, formerly chief financial officer for Worldspan, is the new chief commercial officer.
Sue Powers, previously chief information officer for Worldspan takes up a similar position in the new team while Keith Woodcock becomes senior vp new business incubation.
He was previously chief information officer for Travelport's business group in EMEA and Asia Pacific.
The new chief technology officer is Dave Lauderdale, the same post as he previously held with Worldspan.
Tad Ostrowski expands his responsibilities as general counsel for Galileo to heading the legal functions for the new grouping.
Lee Golding who formerly worked for Galileo, is the new senior vp human resources while Bob Coggin becomes vice chairman Travelport GDS.
Forte names new general managers
Rocco Forte has appointed general managers at two of the group's hotels.
Alexander Pichel takes up the post at the Hotel Astoria in St.Petersburg and Mirco Zanini has been promoted to a similar position at the Angleterre Hotel, also in the Russian city.
Mr Pichel joins the Rocco Forte Collection from Hyatt International where he worked fro many years, most recently as general manager of the Hyatt Regency Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan.
Mr Zanini joined Forte in 1998 and most recently worked as director of operations at both the Hotel Astoria and the Angleterre Hotel
