AVIATION CLUB members, including the chairmen of the CAA, BA and bmi, got short shift last week from the latest minister for transport, the member for Harrow East, Tony McNulty, who was late to arrive and quick to go. Hardly endearing himself to the crowded room, and a member of the John Prescott school of speechmaking, he failed to answer any questions save to tell the assembly what a fine job he had made of December”s The Future of Air Transport report. What will happen when a scheduled airline fails (see Duo above) he side stepped. The last minister to speak at the club, John Spellar, received a fine ovation.
