BIRMINGHAM NEC PAVILION, for the second year running, has hosted the regional Business Travel Show, a successful but much smaller version of the London happening planned for 31 January ” 2nd February 2006, again at Olympia. The organisers have confirmed the same place and similar dates for 2006 but there is talk of taking the show on the road for the future. Some 54 exhibitors displayed in the hall but the backbone of the event was a series of well-supported seminars and master classes. On the airline front Air China was showcasing its yet to be introduced flat bed business class, Emirates promoting the twice daily services from Birmingham to Dubai with onward connections to as far away places as Australia and New Zealand, Continental and it award winning BusinessFirst operation, Eastern Airlines and its ever expanding domestic operations. Ickenham Travel, once just a local west London travel agency, used the show as an opportunity to re-brand themselves a Business Travel Direct.
