Business travellers based in the UK say they are being “better supported” by their organisations than they were before the pandemic struck in early 2020.
A survey of 500 corporate travellers, carried out for emergency assistance firm World Travel Protection, found that they were receiving improved pre-departure information, better risk assessment and regular support while on the road.
The research found that 59 per cent of travellers had seen an improvement in the information being supplied before their departure. While a slightly lower number (56 per cent) said their organisation was now better at communicating potential travel risks, providing regular support during trips and improving the availability of emergency support.
Kate Fitzpatrick, regional security director, EMEA at World Travel Protection, said: “Many destinations have changed in the last few years and travellers cannot assume that just because they visited a destination countless times in the past it will be the same as they remember.
“The turmoil caused by Covid-19 and the subsequent economic downtime means new risk assessments need to be conducted on previously ‘safe’ destinations.
“However, it’s reassuring to see that the majority of organisations have taken this on board and are providing additional support to travelling staff, and importantly ensuring that emergency support is in place should they need it.”
