Portman Travel is to close its Southampton office, ABTN understands.
The news comes only a week after staff learned offices in Leicester and Crawley were set to close.
The travel management company was known to have embarked on a downsizing strategy after it acquired Fleet Street Travel in early 2008.
The TMC had already closed its Manchester branch, merging it with a former Fleet Street office in Knutsford.
A spokesman for Portman Travel said each of its offices were being looked at on a case-by-case basis following an aggressive acquisition spree (in addition to Fleet Street the company bought P&O Business Travel, AA Business Travel, Travel Force, John Cory and recently took on business travel accounts fro Travelocity Business Travel).
"...[A]s with any successful business we continue to look at all of our processes to ensure we provide the ultimate value to our clients and job security for our colleagues," said the spokesman.
"As a result we decided that our Leicester operation was not part of our future strategy and the business has transferred to our Northampton and Birmingham offices.
"We are also currently reviewing our Crawley operation. We are consulting with our potentially affected staff there on what impact this may have on them. We are keeping our customers advised of any changes."
ABTN was this morning waiting for a response from Portman about the future of its Southampton office.
UPDATE:
Portman Travel has confirmed that its Southampton office will close today. The company said it is trying to relocate all 13 members of staff to other areas of the business.
A statement said: "As part of its ongoing review into its business strategy, Portman Travel's Southampton office is closing today. All 13 staff affected have been consulted and offered alternative roles elsewhere within Portman's branch network."
