Emerald TMC, based in Baker Street in north London, has ceased
The company, the corporate travel management division of
Emerald Global Group, was founded in 1980 by Gabriel Ng-Wong. Ng-Wong died in February 2020 and the business was taken over by his sons.
The TMC division, which accounted for around 10 per cent of
the group’s £57.6 million revenues (financial year 2020), was headed up by Caroline
Atkinson. The group’s eConsol wholesale division consolidated
airfares to travel agents and TMCs across the UK and Europe.
ABTA said its licence was terminated on 31 March and the company ceased
trading on 9 April.
Neil Gostelow and Steve Absolom of KPMG have been appointed
as administrators and are aiming to realise the remaining assets,
including the TMC division.
Emerald joins a growing list of TMCs which have folded during the pandemic, which includes Baxter Hoare, Horncastle Executive Travel, Thornton's Travel and Business Travel by STA.
