Italian TMC Gattinoni Business Travel has opened a new office in Treviso, in the country’s north-eastern Triveneto region, following the acquisition of rival TMC Btexpert.
The two TMCs officially came together on 1 January, 2023, after the larger Gattinoni Group (which also covers leisure travel and meetings) completed its acquisition of Btexpert parent company Robintur Group in June 2022.
As a result, the Gattinoni Group will undergo a complete corporate restructure throughout 2023 and 2024. The business will be reorganised into three dedicated segments: travel (products and agencies), business travel and events.
For the time being, Btexpert, which has an established a presence in the Triveneto region, has retained its name and Riccardo Zanotto remains in place as managing director.
Gattinoni Business Travel commercial director, Elena Carlino, said the acquisition of Btexpert has “accelerated our presence in the SME market in the region”.
According to the TMC, the Triveneto region – which covers Venice, Padua, Vicenza and Verona – has one of the highest volumes of business travel in the country and is home to “important districts” for industries such as textiles, jewellery, mechanics and eyewear.
The company, which was ranked sixth largest TMC in Italy in BTN Europe's Leading TMCs 2022 rankings, said its new office represents a “strategic investment” and will soon become one of its hubs, alongside those in Milan, Turin and Bologna.
“We have inaugurated the new office to be closer to the important companies in the area. It is an industrially rich area which represents for us a re-start, a starting point,” Carlino added.
