Virgin Trains has teamed up with business travel membership group Advantage Focus Partnership to promote rail to SMEs.
It will become the first operator in Britain to join Advantage, which is responsible for booking more than £1 billion in business travel a year.
The rail operator said the deal will ensure that TMCs are better equipped to offer “sustainable and green transport options for Britain’s business community.”
Virgin Trains’ business development manager Claire Walton said targeting the SME sector is a key part of its growth strategy.
“Advantage knows and understands this market and has total commitment to delivering the best for their TMC members. This partnership allows us to reach out to those TMCs servicing this market and engage with them to help grow their business.”
Advantage’s non-executive director Christian Gleave, said: “Over the last six months we have worked really hard to develop this partnership agreement with Virgin Trains. It is the first partnership agreement between any travel consortium and a train operating company and will provide real benefits to our mutual business travel clients and the travel trade.
“This agreement was very important to Advantage as part of our commitment to our clients to continually improve value and service.”
Advantage Focus Partnership is the fourth largest TMC organisation in the UK.
