Eurostar has announced a year-round service to Geneva via Lille from December 14.
The route from London St. Pancras is in partnership with TGV Lyria, meaning passengers will be able to purchase through-tickets from London to the Swiss city but will transfer onto a TGV Lyria train at Lille.
The four-times weekly route, which starts on December 14, will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are available for booking from October 9.
The new Swiss service coinciodes with the refurbishment of Lille Europe station designed to “significantly increase” the capacity of the Eurostar terminal.
Nick Mercer, Eurostar's commercial director, said: "Our research shows a real appetite for a more civilised way to reach popular European destinations, and this new connecting service offers easy access for customers looking for a city break in Geneva or to reach some of the most spectacular ski resorts in Europe.
"With city-centre to city-centre travel and a generous baggage allowance, the new offer proposes an attractive alternative to flying."
The new route follows the announcement of a direct service toLyon and Marseillestarting in May 2015, followed by Amsterdam in late 2016.
In July, Eurostar announced it had seen a 6 per cent increase in business travellers in the first half of this year.
