Eurostar has reported ‘record’ passenger numbers for 2025, with a 2.6 per cent year-on-year increase to 20 million travellers.
The record annual figure was driven by “sustained” demand from both leisure and business travellers, the company said.
Eurostar’s London–Amsterdam saw the strongest growth in 2025, with a 18.3 per cent year-on-year increase in passengers. This followed the opening in February 2025 of its new UK Terminal in Amsterdam, which enabled increased capacity of up to 810 passengers on direct services between the UK and the Netherlands.
Other routes that saw growth included Eurostar’s London to Germany service via Brussels (+10 per cent), London-Brussels (+5.8 per cent) and London-Paris (+5 per cent).
Eurostar CEO Gwendoline Cazenave said: “Another year of growth to 20 million passengers only motivates us to do more for our customers in the years to come as we expand, including into new countries as we introduce the new Celestia fleet.”
The rail operator last October announced its €2 billion investment in a new fleet of 30 double-decker ‘Celestia’ trains, which will enter commercial service from 2031.
Eurostar has been the sole operator on the Channel Tunnel, linking the UK with mainland Europe, since it began running services in 1994. However, cross-channel competition is expected to increase in coming years after the UK rail regulator approved plans from the Virgin Group to launch new services on routes currently operated by Eurostar.
