What European Travel Buyers Expect from Trump's Travel Ban

The Global Business Travel Association conducted two straw polls of travel managers last week to gauge how President Trump's executive orders on immigration will affect their companies. BTN wrote about GBTA's poll of 58 U.S. travel managers, and now that the association has released the responses from 68 European travel managers, the results are worth comparing side by side.

Travel Managers Who Expect a Reduction in Their Companies' Business Travel

Meanwhile, 38 percent of European travel managers say their companies have directed employees who are nationals of the countries named in Trump's executive order—Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen—to cancel or delay travel. More than half, 53 percent, have employees traveling abroad who are or might be affected. Another 21 percent don't know whether there are employees traveling abroad who might be affected.

Some respondents reported no effect on business travel, while one indicated a decline in travelers' desire to go to the U.S. Another said, "We are considering moving events to outside of the U.S."
