Turkish diplomatic and consular missions have
begun accepting visa applications from U.S. citizens "on a limited
basis," according to a statement from the Turkish Embassy. Border visas,
for which one applies upon arrival, and electronic visas remain suspended. Visas
have been suspended since early October after Turkey arrested a U.S. consulate
employee under suspicion of links to a failed coup. The arrest sparked a diplomatic row. Similarly, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Turkey have resumed visa
services on a limited basis, according to an embassy statement, after
assurances from the Turkish government that no additional employees are under
investigation.
