Canadian airline Westjet has announced six routes connecting Gatwick with Canada.
Starting in summer 2016, the airline will fly from Gatwick to Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Alberta, Winnipeg and St John’s.
Gatwick said the addition of WestJet services to Canada is the “latest example of the low-cost, long haul revolution transforming the aviation industry”.
A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport said: “Flights to long-haul destinations are the fastest growing of the more than 220 destinations that Gatwick flies to today.
“We are delighted to be working with Westjet and these new routes exemplify the choice and competition Gatwick has been able to provide travellers since BAA’s monopoly of airports was broken up.”
