UK airports enjoyed a record breaking month for passenger traffic in October.
Heathrow, Stansted and Manchester airports all saw passenger numbers rise last month compared to the same period last year.
A record 2.08 million people travelled through Manchester in October, making it the busiest month in the airport’s 77 year history. The year-on-year total was up 4 per cent on the same month in 2014.
Stansted recorded its 19th consecutive month of growth as more than two million passengers passed through the terminal in October, up 8.6 per cent on the same period last year.
Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye renewed calls for urgent action on runway expansion, as the airport posted another month of strong growth. Around 6.5 million passengers passed through Heathrow in October, up 3.9 per cent on the same period last year.
"We can create the world's best connected and most sustainable hub airport, ensuring Britain remains at the heart of the global economy for future generations. Let's build it," said Holland-Kaye.
