Singapore Airlines (SA) and Turkish Airlines (TA) have agreed an expansion of their codeshare agreement, the carriers have announced today.
The deal, which is expected to take effect from May 1, will see SA add its code to TA-operated flights beyond Istanbul to destinations within Turkey, as well as points in Africa, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
TA will add its code to SA-operated flights to points in South East Asia and the Southwest Pacific.
The Star Alliance partners have been codesharing on each other’s flights between Singapore and Istanbul since February 2009.
Singapore Airlines will increase frequency on a seasonal basis between Singapore and Istanbul to six time per week to meet growth in demand on the route. This will take effect from May 26 and run throughout the summer.
Turkish Airlines currently operates seven weekly flights on the route.
Singapore Airlines’ executive VP commercial, Mak Swee, said: This significant expansion, together with our increase in frequency to Istanbul, is in line with ongoing efforts to expand our network reach and to offer customers more travel options.”
Turkish Airlines’chief investment and technology officer, Ahmet Bolat, said: “With this co-operation we will have the opportunity to transfer our passengers to destinations in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia via Singapore by connecting our networks.”
