Low cost airline, Ryanair, has announced it will operate four new routes from Manchester, starting in March this year.
The Irish airline will fly to Barcelona, Bologna, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. It is also increasing the frequency of flights on five existing destinations – Dublin, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Malaga and Tenerife.
Ryanair will operate 14 weekly flights between Manchester and Barcelona, six weekly to Bologna, and four weekly to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
From Manchester the same month, it will begin operating 56 weekly flights to Dublin, up from 48; ten weekly to Ibiza, up from eight; 14 weekly to Lanzarote, up from 12; 20 weekly to Malaga, up from 16; and 14 weekly to Tenerife, up from 12.
The airline said the additional routes will deliver an extra 2.1 million passengers a year at Manchester airport, and support more than 2,000 jobs.
The announcement means Ryanair now has 36 Manchester routes.
Ryanair, sales and marketing manager, Maria Macken said the airline was “pleased” to be able to deliver the new European routes as well as sustaining 2,100 “on-site" jobs at Manchester.
