Ryanair passengers will no longer need to print out their ticket before their flight as the airline has today launched mobile boarding passes.
It’s just one of the features available on the airline’s new app, which can be used to browse, book, check-in and board flights.
The boarding passes will be accessible offline, and one device can be used to carry multiple passes.
Travellers will still be required to check-in online before their scheduled departure.
Ryanair has warned that a small number of airports they fly to don’t offer mobile check-in services – these airports will be listed on the airline’s website.
The app, which is available in English, Italian and Spanish, also displays live flight information and passengers can use it to book hotels and car hire.
Ryanair’s chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs, said: “We’ve worked hard to develop a product which we’re proud of and which will make travelling with Ryanair even better and our customers can expect regular app updates that will make it an even more useful travel tool.
“Our ‘Always Getting Better’ programme has delivered better services, more choice and enhanced in-flight and digital experiences for our customers and we look forward to making further improvements for the 84m people who will fly with us this year.”
In March Ryanair announced it was changing its business model to evolve into a more “corporate friendly” airline.
The Irish carrier confirmed it would launch a range of services such as flexible tickets, reserved seating and fast-track through selected airports. It also confirmed it was working with GDS providers for the first time in 10 years.
