ONUR AIR, the long established Turkish charter carrier, has been banned from Amsterdam for the time being after an aborted take-off last week. This follows another incident when an aircraft carrying Dutch leisure travellers was forced to turn back due to engine trouble. The Dutch authorities are adamant that the airline stays away from Schiphol until safety procedures are improved whilst the carrier says that the complaints are unjustified. The German authorities have also made a ban, whilst the Turks have turned away an Air Berlin aircraft. With the exception of four MD88 Onur Air operates an exclusive Airbus fleet carrying 1.4m passengers annually.
