Low-cost carrier Norwegian is targeting business travellers with the appointment of Dominic Tucker as head of sales UK to promote its long-haul premium services from Gatwick.
Tucker, who previously worked for British Airways, joins Norwegian’s UK and Ireland sales manager Mitchell Hawes in a team which is being tasked with selling the airline’s long-haul premium cabin to the corporate market.
Norwegian currently flies B787-8 Dreamliners from Gatwick to New York JFK, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Los Angeles, and is set to increase services to New York and Los Angeles from next month.
Lars Sande, senior vice president of sales and distribution, said: “The UK is a strategically important market for our international expansion. As we introduce new routes and state-of-the art aircraft, this is the right time to enhance our sales presence in the UK.
“Dominic and Mitchell understand the complexities of the UK travel market and have close working relationships with trade partners and tourist boards in order to create mutual sales opportunities.
“Their comprehensive industry knowledge will prove invaluable for Norwegian as they will continuously engage with partners across all segments to maximise lucrative opportunities.”
The carrier has also appointed Stephen Cooper to the role of partner account manager UK who will work on Norwegian’s loyalty programme, Norwegian Reward.
As well as Gatwick, Norwegian also operates from Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester.
Norwegian says it is the only airline to offer free inflight wifi on UK flights to European destinations.
