NORWEGIAN, the budget carrier from Norway, is to step up its operation from Stansted with the introduction on 1 April 2004 of new direct services to Stavanger and Bergen. Each route will have six departures per week, every day but Saturday. The airline currently operates five flights per week to Oslo Gardermoen; the main airport for Oslo. The centre of the city is only 19 minutes by Express train from the airport. From 19 April, Norwegian will increase the number of flights from Stansted to Oslo to 12 per week. This will provide one morning and one evening departure every day except Saturday. Ryanair flies to Torp, which is 60 miles to the south of the capital, well over one hour away by road.
