United Airlines is to operate its summer service between Newcastle and Newark Liberty airport for a second year in 2016.
The US carrier will operate six times per week - flying every day apart from Wednesday - on the route between May 26 and September 6, 2016.
Newcastle chief executive David Law said: “We have been very pleased with the way in which the operation has performed in its first year and with the response of the individuals and businesses who have taken advantage of the service.
“In the past few weeks, many people have been asking us whether the service will return in 2016, so I am delighted to be able to confirm today that it will be back.
“We have worked very hard, with our shareholders and other regional partners, to ensure the route has been a success and to secure this further operation.”
The flights will be operated by Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 169 seats including 16 in business class and 45 Economy Plus with increased legroom.
Flight UA75 will leave Newcastle at 09.10 for arrival into Newark at 12.00. The return departs from Newark at 19.20 with arrival back at Newcastle at 07.30 the next day.
