Morocco has banned flights to and from the UK for an
unspecified period as Covid-19 cases in the country continue to rise. Flights from Germany and the Netherlands have also been suspended.
Airlines operating the route, such as easyJet, were told by the
government of Morocco on Wednesday that flights would be suspended from 2359
BST, according to the BBC.
However, passengers from the three countries are not banned so anyone with direct flights has been advised to contact their airline to arrange an
alternative route via a third country such as France or Spain, where services
are operating as normal. Travellers will have to provide evidence they are
fully vaccinated or a negative PCR test result taken within 48 hours of
departure.
The ban comes as new Covid-19 infections in the UK have been above 40,000 a day for eight days in a row.
EasyJet said in a statement that it had cancelled all
flights from the UK, Germany and the Netherlands to Morocco until 30 November.
The airline is intending to operate repatriation flights for those passengers
already in Morocco.
British Airways has also cancelled its flights between
Heathrow and Marrakech.
