A Malaysian Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Seoul has been forced to make an unscheduled landing in Hong Kong after a generator failed.
The carrier confirmed in a statement that flight MH066 was diverted to Hong Kong due to an “inoperative aircraft generator which supplies normal electrical power”.
The flight landed without incident just before 3am on Monday.
The news comes three weeks after the Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 disappeared on an overnight flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
The airline said the 271 passengers bound for Incheon International Airport near Seoul were put on flights with other carriers.
The aircraft departed from Kuala Lumpur at 11.37pm and was scheduled to arrive in Incheon at 6.50am local time.
