Lufthansa Group’s frequent travellers are set to gain access to ITA Airways’ airport lounges from the start of July.
The move is part of the integration process of ITA’s services following Lufthansa’s acquisition of a minority stake in the Italian carrier earlier this year.
Status members of Lufthansa Group’s loyalty programme will be able to use ITA’s lounges at airports in Rome, Milan and Catania from 1 July.
“This will significantly expand the lounge network, especially for travel to and via Italy,” said Lufthansa in a statement.
Other changes will see all Lufthansa Group status passengers benefit from priority check-in, additional baggage allowance and waiting list priority when flying with ITA Airways.
Meanwhile, the group’s Senators and HON Circle members will also receive priority boarding, fast track access, accelerated baggage handling and free seat reservations.
Dieter Vranckx, chief commercial officer of the Lufthansa Group, said: "The harmonisation of our frequent traveller status benefits across the Lufthansa Group marks a significant step for our most loyal guests.
“By expanding lounge access and introducing additional privileges for Lufthansa Group status customers, we are offering more convenience and flexibility."
