South American airline LATAM will reintroduce services between
London and Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 3 December.
The four-times-weekly service, to be operated by B777 aircraft, will
depart London Heathrow’s Terminal 3 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
at 20.35 and arrive in Sao Paulo at 05.20 the following day.
From its Sao Paulo hub, passengers can connect to more than 120
destinations in 25 countries.
The last LATAM flight departed London on 17 January 2021 before
government restrictions on travel between the UK and Brazil were put in place.
Joao Murias, LATAM Airlines regional
commercial director, said: "We are proud to
reconnect London to São Paulo, and from there to all of South America. The
demand as soon as the news broke that we were back in operation has been incredible,
which reinforces that our commitment to connecting the UK to South America is more topical
than ever."
The carrier filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US
in May 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic decimated its operations, but will now gradually rebuild its operations in Europe “and beyond” in the
coming months.
