The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is to integrate the global
capabilities of test laboratory company Eurofins into its Travel Pass digital health
platform.
Eurofins, headquartered in Luxembourg, has more than 800 laboratories in
more than 50 countries and has capacity for more than 20 million patient tests
per month, the company said.
The partnership will see users of the app offered various test types at
hundreds of locations globally. After testing, users will receive secure,
verified test results which they can share with authorities and airlines to
facilitate travel.
Trials of the integration are expected to begin with airlines piloting
IATA Travel Pass in several regions in the coming weeks.
“Adding the extensive Eurofins network to the initiative will help travellers
more conveniently adjust their travel preparations to meet the Covid-19
requirements,” said Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General.
“Fast, secure, high-quality testing is a critical element in the fight
against the pandemic and enabling the return to normalised travel,” said Gilles
Martin, Eurofins’ chairman and CEO.
