British Airways parent International Airlines Group (IAG) will introduce high-speed wifi across its carriers’ aircraft from 2026, following a deal with Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite system.
IAG, which also owns Iberia, Aer Lingus, LEVEL and Vueling, said the Starlink integration will provide travellers with download and upload speeds “as good or better than home connectivity”.
The new service will be introduced on more than 500 aircraft operating both short-haul and long-haul routes, with the first aircraft due to go live with the service in early 2026.
IAG CEO Luis Gallego said: “The introduction of high-speed wi-fi from Starlink will transform onboard connectivity, improving both the connection speed and reliability for customers. Customers from all IAG airlines will be able to benefit from the service from next year.”
British Airways chairman and CEO Sean Doyle added: “We’re continuing to focus on transforming our customer experience. Launching Starlink on both our long-haul and short-haul aircraft is game-changing for us… Especially on short-haul, this will really differentiate us from our competitors.”
