Heathrow posted a record number of passengers for July with the final day of the month its busiest-ever single day.
More than 7 million passengers passed through the airport, up 2.1 per cent year-on-year.
Traffic was helped by strong traffic to emerging markets such as Middle East and Central Asia (+13.1%), Mexico (+13%) and China (+9%).
Heathrow said larger, quieter aircraft was also a driver for growth in passenger volumes as carriers continued to benefit from new aircraft including A380s deployed by British Airways, Emirates, Etihad, Korean, Thai and Qatar as well as a record number of Dreamliners.
