British Airways is to launch services between Belfast and Birmingham from 31 October. The flights will be operated by its CityFlyer subsidiary using Embraer 190 aircraft.
Flights between Belfast and Birmingham will operate twice daily, increasing to three times a day on Thursday and Friday.
The airline will also continue to offer flights from Belfast to Glasgow, Leeds and Exeter for the winter season, services it took over from Aer Lingus franchise partner Stobart Air. It is increasing the frequency of these services to 13, 10 and four a week respectively.
BA will also launch new routes to Salzburg from both London City (starting 10 December) and Southampton (11 December). Flights will operate on Fridays and Saturdays from London City and on Saturdays from Southampton from 11 December.
Tom Stoddart, managing director of BA CityFlyer, said: "This year has shown how much customers want to stay connected with the rest of the UK. We’re responding to the customer demand we saw over the last few months by extending some of our newest UK routes from Belfast City Airport."
Katy Best, commercial director at Belfast City Airport, added: ““This latest increase in frequency is superb news for those who want to plan ahead and book winter staycations or weekend breaks in Birmingham, Exeter, Glasgow or Leeds. The convenient flight times will also be attractive to business travellers who avail of can same day returns.”
