Boeing has set new records for the number of aircraft delivered to airlines in a calendar year as well as total forward orders.
The Seattle-based manufacturer said it had delivered 648 aircraft in 2013 - the most in a single year - while its ongoing commercial orders stood at a record 5,080 aircraft at the end of December.
Ray Conner, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “With solid execution on our numerous production rate increases, the Boeing team performed extremely well in 2013.
“We delivered more advanced, fuel-efficient airplanes to our customers than ever before, and it's a great example of what our team can accomplish.”
During last year, Boeing delivered a record 65 B787 Dreamliners, despite the aircraft being grounded for three months in early 2013 due to problems with its onboard batteries.
Boeing also delivered 440 next-generation B737s and 98 B777s to airlines during 2013.
Conner added: “The year ahead will be exciting as we prepare to deliver the first 787-9, continue the design work on our newest programs – the 737 MAX, 787-10 and 777X – while increasing our production rates on the 737.
“We'll remain focused on meeting our customer commitments by delivering the best products and services.”
