Blue Islands has become the latest UK regional airline to suspend trading and cancel all flights.
The Channel Islands carrier announced that it had suspended operations on Friday (14 November) after failing to get further funding from the Government of Jersey.
The move came just three weeks after Humberside Airport-based Eastern Airways ceased flights and then entered administration.
Blue Islands had operated flights from Jersey and Guernsey to airports in the UK, Ireland and western Europe.
“After very constructive dialogue with the Government of Jersey in recent months, including what we understood to have been ongoing assessments of the future options, we were informed this afternoon that they are unable to provide further support,” the airline said in a statement.
“This has meant that we now need to suspend flying immediately whilst we consider the options available and how we can help our customers, staff and stakeholders.”
Fellow UK regional carriers Aurigny and Loganair have both put on extra flights offering “rescue fares” to help Blue Islands passengers affected by the airline’s demise.
