International Airlines Group (IAG) saw passenger traffic jump 12.4 per cent in August compared to the same period last year.
The parent company of British Airways, Vueling and Iberia carried 9.1 million from 8.1 million in 2014, with the load factor rising to 86.6 per cent from 84.7 per cent.
IAG said premium traffic for the month rose 8.7 per cent compared to August 2014.
The boost in traffic follows the announcement this week that IAG has formally acquired Aer Lingus after shareholders, representing 98.05 per cent of the Irish carrier, signed up to sell their stakes.
