British Airways and US Airways are launching a codeshare agreement which will allow BA customers access to nearly 40 destinations in North America and the Caribbean.
The agreement will also mean US Airways passengers will be able to use BA services to more than 70 destinations throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The codeshare will initially cover nearly all of the two carriers’ transatlantic flights. BA customers can book the US Airways’ services to Charlotte and Philadelphia from 18 European destinations for travel from May 14.
Similarly, US Airways’ passengers will see the carrier’s code placed on BA flights to London from 21 destinations in North America. All remaining destinations will be phased in by the end of the summer.
BA’s head of alliances Steve Ronald, said: “Our codeshare arrangement with US Airways, and the addition of its extensive network to our schedule, marks another milestone in our Joint Business.
Kurt Stache, American Airlines senior vice-president of alliances and partnerships, added: “US Airways’ entry into the Atlantic Joint Business marked a crucial step in our overall integration process, and this codeshare arrangement with our long term partner British Airways is essential to the continued expansion of our combined networks."
Members of BA Executive Club and US Airways Dividend Miles loyalty programmes will be able to earn points when travelling on codeshare flights operated by the other airline.
