British Airways is adding a number of destinations back into
its network from the UK following an official review of the travel red list.
The UK Government announced yesterday that it is slashing the
red list – which carries the strictest entry requirements for travellers – to just
seven countries from 11 October, removing the majority of testing and quarantine requirements
for fully vaccinated passengers.
In response, BA announced it would ramp up services to South
Africa, with daily flights to Johannesburg expected by mid-December. Flights to
Cape Town (pictured) will start at three a week in November before moving to double daily
in December.
The airline’s services to Mexico City will also be
increasing to five a week from 6 November, while Cancun flights will resume
from 22 October and operate daily.
Elsewhere, BA aims to restart flights to Sao Paulo and
Buenos Aires by Christmas.
BA announced earlier this week that it is planning to
operate its biggest flight schedule since March 2020 this winter, with services
to the US set to increase as the country reopens its border to travellers from
the EU and UK.
