Aeromexico is targeting the SME market by introducing a rewards programme for corporates.
Speaking to BBT, the Mexican carrier’s senior VP of global sales, Jorge Goytortua Bores, confirmed that from February small and medium-sized companies will be able to earn points on each flight booked on top of the usual loyalty points their travellers can collect.
The scheme, which is officially launched next month and when full details will be available, is based on kilometres travelled rather than cost of ticket, so firms will earn the same rewards if their traveller is in economy or business class.
Goytortua Bores said he expects the product to be “big in the market place”.
“We wanted to target the SME market and create a differentiator in what we believe is a very strong sector,” he said.
“We offer the same rewards for whatever class a company’s employee is in because we want a commitment with SMEs who are not able to pay the best class or most expensive ticket but want to travel regularly with Aeromexico.”
Goytortua Bores confirmed that once a company is enrolled they will receive “a couple of gold cards” that can be used with all Skyteam members and give access to premier or business lounges. “We want our SME clients to receive tangible benefits,” he added.
Companies will also have access to the airline’s economy plus product, AM Plus, allowing upgrades for “those who cannot pay the business class fare”.
The loyalty scheme is a tailor-made product for Europe and not available globally.
Goytortua Bores also confirmed Aeromexico is boosting frequency on its Madrid route to 12-times weekly this summer, which follows last week’s announcement that it’s increasing services from Mexico City to Heathrow as well as a three-times weekly service to Amsterdam.
