Non-profit organisation ACTE has scrapped registration fees for business travel managers for its 2014 conferences.
The association’s executive director Greeley Koch confirmed that registration fees for the upcoming conferences in Hong Kong and Copenhagen would now be included as an “enhanced membership benefit” for business travel managers.
Koch explained that ACTE’s “nimble” financial structure and “laser focus” on cost controls will accommodate this change as the association is not supporting a large office operation.
“We are respectful of our members’ time and money,” he said. “You won’t see any sudden increases in the costs of ACTE membership... the offer is not a pricing gimmick”.
This enhanced membership benefit is available immediately to ACTE’s Asia conference in Hong Kong (August 6-7) and the European Global Corporate Travel Conference in Copenhagen (October 19-21).
The offer is available to any business travel manager who is an ACTE member and to any new member who joins in 2014. A €10 booking fee is assessed at time of registration. Airfare, accommodations and ground transportation are not included.
“Many travel managers are still subject to cost limitations on conferences and training events,” said Koch. “With registration fees coming out of their own pockets, they will attend conferences if participation costs are lowered. There is nothing lower than free.”
He added that many ACTE members have been attending conferences for the past few years without reimbursement and that the association wanted to reward this loyalty.
