Starwood’s upmarket brand St Regis has extended its presence in China with the opening of a new property in Macau.
The 400-room St Regis Macao, Cotai Central is the brand’s seventh property in greater China and the 36th hotel across the world.
The Macau hotel is part of a global expansion which will see another five St Regis properties opening in 2016 including two in Malaysia and another Chinese hotel in Changsha, as well as Cairo and the Maldives. St Regis also opened hotels in Istanbul, Mumbai and Dubai this year.
Jim Petrus, global brand leader for St Regis, said: “There is an ever-increasing demand for luxury around the globe and Macau is no exception, especially with the recent proliferation of luxury brands in the market and a record number of visitors to the destination in 2015.”
St Regis Macao is the fourth hotel to open as part of the Sands Cotai Central development in the former Portuguese colony. It also includes another Starwood property, Sheraton Macao, which is the brand’s biggest property with 4,001 rooms, as well as Conrad and Holiday Inn hotels.
The new hotel includes five restaurants and the St Regis Bar.
